Welcome to Year 3-4! We are really looking forward to embracing the new normal and getting back to school life. We have lots of fun ideas and lessons that we cannot wait to get started with!
Here is some information that we think will be useful to you. However, we are always available to speak to should you have any other questions. We are always contactable via the school office or through ClassDojo.
Each child will have a reading book and reading diary to take home with them every day. We ask that the children please bring these with them to school daily. In order to support your child, we would like it if someone was able to hear them read at home as much as possible, ideally every day. If you hear your child read please record it in their reading diary.
If your child needs their book changing an adult will guide them to choose a suitable new book. Once a child has evidence of having read at home four times they will be able to earn a leaf towards a reward.
Homework and spellings
Children will receive one piece of English, Maths or enquiry homework most weeks on a Friday. We ask that this be completed and returned by the following Wednesday. In addition, your child will be receiving a weekly spelling list for them to learn at home and regular times tables to practise. We also welcome any additional home learning that the children wish to complete for example anything related to our enquiry.
The children will be having PE lessons each week. Below is a timetable for each class to show their days.
Wednesday (swimming day to be confirmed)
In order for your child to be able to participate fully in these lessons we ask that they have a PE kit in school at all times. This consists of a t-shirt, shorts or sports trousers and daps or trainers. We ask that earrings are removed for PE lessons. If your child is unable to remove their earrings please provide them with plasters to protect the ears during lessons.
ActiveLearn and Doodle
ActiveLearn and Doodle are brilliant resources that all children are encouraged to use at home to support their learning. We will be uploading learning games related to what they have been learning in class. All children have a username and log on details that we have stuck in their reading diaries.
Your child is welcome to bring their own healthy snack to eat at break time. Chocolate, crisps and sweets are not allowed.
We would welcome any volunteers who would be willing to come and hear children read. If you are able to help us please come and speak to a member of staff.
We appreciate your support with all these matters.
