Swimming at Roundhill

Swimming is an important life skill: it is enjoyable, an excellent way to improve fitness and health, and vital for personal safety.

Very few primary schools have an indoor, heated swimming pool on site, but here at Roundhill we do! This enables us to provide all our children with swimming lessons (delivered by a qualified coach) at an exceptionally reasonable cost.  Our pool is ideal for learner swimmers.

We are in partnership with Swimcentral who deliver all swimming lessons in our pool. All the teachers and lifeguards are fully qualified and have lots of experience.  Their swim programme supports children of all abilities and swimmers are encouraged every lesson through games, stroke skills and challenges.

Swimcentral focuses on much more than just teaching swimming. The programmes are structured around five core skills: personal safety, personal growth, stroke development, water games/sports and rescue. They concentrate on fun lessons designed to develop a life-long appreciation for aquatics. The goal of their programme is to be sensitive to each child’s individual needs, which is the key to a successful experience of water!

The children work towards certificates to celebrate their achievements.

Older children also have the opportunity to swim in a larger pool in another setting to enable them to gain wider skills and develop stamina.

Please note that swimming lessons are £1.00 per session.

Your child's class teacher will inform you of your swimming timetable for your child.  Please note that if your child does not bring a swimming kit in they will be unable to swim.

If you have any queries, please ask your child’s teacher who will know the class swimming timetable.

Please ensure that your child has a swimming costume/trunks, a towel and swimming goggles (if usually worn).  Swimming is £1 per session.  Please ensure that you pay in advance on the school gateway.  If you wish, you can pay for the whole term in advance.

Please speak to your child's class teacher who will tell you the day your child will be swimming.
