Class Teacher - Mrs. Sarah Herring
Teaching Assistant - Ms. Lois Phillips
- Kieran Pinnock
We have had a great start to the term and everyone seems to have settled well into their new class.
This term we will be doing PE on a Wednesday afternoon and will be going to the Bath Hub to play cricket, rugby or do street dance! Please ensure PE kit is in school on this day.
In term 2 we will be playing football and in terms 3 and 4 we will be swimming
It would really help your child if you could continue to read with them on a regular basis and and if he/she could bring their book bag to school every day.
This term our topic is 'A Journey to Outer Space'. We will be designing and making rockets so please send in any bits of scrap/ recycled material that may be useful! Thanks.
We aim to update this web page on a regular basis to keep you updated with everything that's going on, share our successes and let you know about any upcoming events.
If you have any queries or questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

27th February 3rd March 2017
In class we have been reading Clown by Quentin Blake.
We have written a possible story before the story, sequenced the story into chapters and approached the text through drama, by hot seating various characters.
We have also looked at Quentin Blake the Illustrator, drawing a picture and then colouring it in using watercolours.
On Thursday, Story Box Theatre came to school and we watched a fantastic performance of Jack and the Beanstalk. We also came back to school after tea in our pyjamas for Book at Bedtime.
Today we all dressed up as a character from a Roahl Dahl story. Can you guess who we are?

It snowed today!
We all went outside and had some fun in the snow.
Friday 6th January
This morning we all went over to the ICT Suite to learn more about using the Internet safely.
Our Science topic this term is Materials. We thought about the different material and how they were made. We were not sure how glass was made or where cotton came from and so we searched on the Internet and found the answers.
Happy New Year
We hope you all had a Happy Christmas. The children have been telling us all about their presents and the fun things they did in the holidays.
Already, 2017 is looking like it is going to be a busy year for us all here at Roundhill Primary School with lots of fun things planned.
Friday 11th November 2016
Today we went outside into the sunshine to look at, to listen to and play in the Autumn leaves. We found lots of familiar faces in the leaves. Do you recognise any of these faces? We also had great fun playing on the log trail, jumping into a HUGE pile of leaves at the end.
This term we will be focusing on the story of The Jolly Postman by Janet and Alan Ahlberg. The story contains references to a large number of traditional rhymes and stories, which can be read or re-read with the children. These include Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Hansel and Gretel, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Jack and the Beanstalk and many more. The Jolly Postman offers a range of purposes for writing that the children can use to support their own writing.
This year we are going to study the Horse Chestnut Tree on the playing field. We have already measured it, taken bark rubbings and collected some leaves. We will draw the tree at different times during the year so that we can record how it changes with each new season.
Our Autumn Walk to Sirius Woods
On Wednesday 12th October we went for a walk to Sirius Woods. We went to look for signs of Autumn. We found seed pods, acorns, nuts, teasels and lots of different coloured and shaped leaves. We made 'Journey Sticks' which you can see in the classroom.
This term we will be focusing on the story of Oliver's vegetables. We will be writing sentences, using adjectives, noun phrases and inverted commas. We will also be eating the vegetables that Oliver found in his Grandpa's garden!
Knitting with Angela
As part of our work on Materials last year, we all learned how to knit. We knitted lots of squares with help from Angela and then Angela sewed all the squares together for us and made this fantastic blanket. We wanted to give it to someone special. Bhavisha's Mummy said that she knew just the lady, she is called Mrs. Sidoli and she lives on her own. At the end of September we wrapped it up and Bhavisha took it to Mrs. Sidoli. She loved it and thought we were very good knitters.
We are very pleased to be teaching the children of Ladybird Class!
This term our topic is Supermarkets and we will be visiting our local supermarket on Friday 18th September.

Learning how to knit.
As part of our work on materials this term, we have been learning how to knit. We have each knitted a square and then we are going to sew the squares together and make a blanket. The finished blanket will then be given to a charity who work with and help homeless people.
Beekeeper Visit 3rd February 2016

Happy New Year, everyone!
We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and that you enjoyed the celebrations. Thank you for the many cards and presents we received, it was very kind of you.
This term our topic is Hot and Cold.
We will be reading a super story called The Snail and the Whale, where a snail and a whale travel around the world visiting different hot and cold places. In English we will be story making, writing and retelling the story and also writing non-fiction facts about whales.
In Geography we will be learning about hot and cold countries.
In Science we will be learning about materials, where they come from, how they are made and which materials keep you warm or cool.
During Discovery Time we will be cooking using chocolate!!! We are going to make cakes by heating and cooling the chocolate.
We will also be learning about multiplication and division in Maths.
We are also focusing on our reading too this term. We have been sharing lots of books in class and spending time in our new library looking at, reading and borrowing these wonderful new books. All children can borrow books from the library to read at home, please enjoy them, look after them and return them to school when you have finished with them.
Please remember to bring book bags to school everyday and to also read at home with your child every night.
