Grasshopper

Welcome to Grasshopper Class

Teacher - Mrs Jane Hulm

Teaching Assistants - Ms Pat Moon and Sarah-Louise

We are all delighted to be teaching the children of Grasshopper Class.

This term we will be doing PE on a Tuesday afternoon and will be going to the Bath Hub to play cricket, rugby or do street dance.  Please ensure that PE kit is in school on this day.  In term 2 and for the rest of the year we will have PE on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.  We will have swimming sessions in terms 3 and 4.

Many thanks for reading regularly with your child and for sending their book bag into school every day.  It really does make a difference.

We will send home Number Club homework every Friday.  This is a great opportunity to practice number skills with your child.

Please contact me if there is anything that you would like to share or if you have any questions.

Many thanks for your continued support,

Mrs Jane Hulm

Term 1

In term 1 our topic is 'Passport to the World'.  In this topic we will be finding out about animals and their habitats, some close to home and some very far away.  We are beginning by finding out all about snails, and our key text is The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson.  If you should come across a garden snail in the first few weeks of term, please bring it in to join our snail emporium.

At the start of Term 2 we have been thinking about Remembrance. This year is the centenary of the end of World War 1, so we travelled back in time to 1918 and spent a day in an Ewardian classroom.

Many thanks to all the children and parents for making such an effort with costumes.  Everyone followed all the school rules from 100 years ago.  We sat in rows,  worked on slates and made sure that our handwriting was perfect!
